VotePromise.ca is an initiative of the Democracy Education Network to encourage voter turnout in all elections across Canada.

Many election agencies across Canada have not had success increasing voter turnout in the past 20 years.

In the 2015 federal Canadian election, VotePromise.ca and its partner initiative VoteParty.ca reached 3.5 million people, the most of any non-governmental voter turnout initiative, which helped increase voter turnout by 7%. In the 2018 Ontario provincial election, VotePromise.ca and its partner initiative VoteParty.ca reached 700,000 people, the most of any non-governmental voter turnout initiative, which helped increase voter turnout also by 7%. In the 2021 federal election, VotePromise.ca and its partner initiative VoteParty.ca reached more than 1.3 million people, the most of any non-governmental voter turnout initiative, which helped keep voter turnout at 62% even though it was a summer snap election during the COVID crisis.

By having each person who Makes the Vote Promise also sign up and bring a non-voting family member or friend to vote in these elections, VotePromise.ca will significantly increase voter turnout in all elections.
